A Sign from God?

April 4, 2005

L.A. StoryOK, here’s a weird one: Remember the movie L.A. Story, the California farce in which a washed-up weatherman begins reading personal messages in a sign displaying traffic conditions?

This morning I went back to work for the first time in a year and a half. A closed exit forced me to take a little detour which takes me past a marquee that shows the current stock indices: Dow Jones, NASDAQ. Just as I went past the sign, something about it caught my eye. I looked and saw the scrolling letters rolling away, and they read:

AMAZING GRACE

As an American missionary kid who grew up in Japan, I'm a child of two cultures, while not fully belonging to either. This gives me a sightly different view of the world.

That movie is on my top 10. I wonder what it would say if I drove by?
