This coming week is turning out to be quite busy:
Wednesday night: My friend Mike has invited me to the Espresso Garden & Cafe to hear One of Each, a local a capella group. Mike knows one of the guys in the group and gave me their CD, it’s quite good, and funny. Oh, they did the vocals on the parody Christmas Rhapsody.
…I am blowing off our home group gathering to go. This is one of the advantages of leading a home group as opposed to pastoring a conventional church — how many pastors could, on the spur of the moment, ditch their own church to go hang out with a friend?
Thursday night: Mike A. (not to be confused with Mike above), Teddy, Kreek’t and myself (go homies!) are going to an open mic at the Blue Rock Shoot in Saratoga. I’ve never been to an open mic; it seems the idea is that we each get to perform a couple of songs. I am leaving the safe ghettoized confines of churches and Christian coffeehouses to perform in the real world.
…Come if you can, we’re meeting there at 7:00! Here’s a map to the place.
Friday night: Teddy is coming over to practice with me for…
Sunday night: I’ll be leading worship for a Sunday evening service at City Vineyard Church, with Teddy accompanying me. It’s a renewal-type service consisting of extended worship and ministry time (Vineyard lingo for praying for people as led by the Spirit).
…By the way, I discovered a blog entry in which the author and various commenters rave about Teddy. I learned there that Teddy’s website now features some audio samples off of his new CD, which I am proud to have my own copy of.
