Wow, when I got laid off, I thought I would spend more time blogging, not less. Here are some highlights of the past couple weeks, one week at a time:
Sunday the 12th: Drove down to The Bridge. Erin got pretty sick, so Kay had her hands full and wasn’t able to really participate. Well, at least she got to see the setup. Saw Craig only briefly. Jared, well, I was about to say “preached up a storm” but that language does not fit. He created a space in which I was able to have a powerful encounter with God. Thanks, buddy. Wish we had more time to hang out with you guys.
Monday: Taking it easy with Kay’s folks.
Tuesday: Spent the day at Disneyland. The lines were quite reasonable. While standing in line to buy tickets, I got a call from work but chose not to answer it at the time. Boy, was that a good decision; it would have ruined the day.
Wednesday: Called work while driving back to San Jose. It was my manager, telling me that most of the group had been eliminated — including himself.
Thursday: Went to work. Was in a hilarious mood.
Friday: Went to work. Was in a dark mood. Packed up my office. Kay & I had a good cry as we drove away.
Saturday: The computer at home belongs to work and needs to be returned. So a good friend who works at Apple helped me order a 17″ iMac at a “friends & family” discount.
Sunday: Led worship, with Kay finally joining the team. Leading has been much easier, and the worship freer, ever since I talked with Regina about ditching song arrangements. We never got to the last song of the main set, so we did at the closing instead — and it worked even better after the message. The pastor had me repeat the song while he invited people forward for prayer. Then while people received prayer, I went off on a completely spontaneous song with Kay singing along with me. It was beautiful — and so much fun to work with Kay.
