Chaordic Leadership

[chaordic]Our home group got together tonight without us sickies; I wonder how it went. Kay & I asked ourselves if we should give them any direction (you might talk about this, you might look at these scriptures…), but quickly rejected that idea. Any direction we give them could stifle them and prevent organic leadership from forming. Besides, there’s a much higher motivation to grow in an area once you try it yourself and struggle a bit.

Hmmm… would it have been detrimental to give suggestions / guidance? Would it have detracted from their own experience. I don’t believe organic leadership and helpful guidance are incompatble. I would see that some are ‘gifted’ as leaders while others can serve as leaders when needed but they may lead better with some direction from another. Just a few thoughts!

Hamo, if it were going to be for more than one meeting, we probably would.

Just got a phone call from our buddy Mike. He told us that the group last night consisted of the core people who have been with the group the longest. They worshiped, they prayed, and each one shared what’s been going on in their lives. Not too shabby from the sounds of things!

Everyone says the last gathering went well. Mike joked that the group decided they didn’t need me & Kay anymore and voted us off the island! In fact, I see our role transitioning
…away from taking care of everything that needs to be done
    …toward raising up leaders
    …continuing to cast vision
This coming Wednesday, I’d like to give away responsibilities for different parts of our gathering time. It shouldn’t be a stretch because they’ve already done the things we’ll ask them to do!
