I’m listening to Evanescence. I like the power of rap-metal groups, but they are generally lacking in the melodic department. Enter Evanescence — this gal can sing! “I believe in you / I’ll give up everything just to find you”

As an American missionary kid who grew up in Japan, I'm a child of two cultures, while not fully belonging to either. This gives me a sightly different view of the world.

  1. Oh yeah… I dig this CD. Stumbled across your site from the blogger homepage. I’ll be back.

  2. Stavesacre
Hi Jon, that’s certainly a different way to stumble through here! I have one Stavesacre album — Friction — that I really like. I haven’t heard the others.

  3. I’ve been enjoying the album for awhile now as well. Good stuff.

  4. Evenscence sucks. I can’t believe people actually like this crap.
I’m surprised my head’s not exploded yet.

  5. I listened them first from my daredevil cd and i thought they
are goodI wanted the cd bad so i could listen to
it all. i got the cd and i have been listening to it for a while and i realise this girl kicks butt. She may be a
girl like some say but she has a great voice and she could sing so all i have to say is she kicks butt.

  6. i totally luv evanescence!!! i bought their cd too.. u cud say im
obsessed over them… guess how i stumbled across ur blog? i typed in
evanescence blogs on the search engine and voila… im here!
amy lee rawkz!! her vocals on the cd totally blew my mind!!

  7. It’s like Enya meets Linkin Park. There are some ballots that really hit you; they make you think and some that you can skip over and direguard. It’s a good cd no doubt one of the few that I enjoy.

  8. What surprises me is that even though it’s been months since I first heard this album, and it’s even been months since I bought it for myself (see August 5), it’s still one of my favorites. That says a lot.
Enya + Linkin Park? Interesting analogy. Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to join more recent conversations!

  9. Hmm, you seem to have uncovered a brand new way to get new folks into your blog, and with a rather diverse level of literacy ;). An interesting parallel between the lyrics you posted and: “I’d gladly lose me to find you, I’d gladly give up all I got. To catch you I’m gonna run and never stop” from The Bargain, by the Who, of course. I love Truth in secular lyrics.

  10. Oops, I just realized this was not a new post, just new feedback. Velly Solly!

  11. Oh gosh, Randall has referenced an amazing song you “young folks” should check out. 🙂
I’d pay any price just to get you
I’d work all my life and I will
To win you I’d stand naked stoned and stabbed
    I’d call that a bargain
    The best I ever had
    The best I ever had
The song is Bargain. The album is Who’s Next. The band is The Who.

  12. I love Amy Lee’s voice. She has that angelic twang to an otherwise dark instrumentation. That rocker chick personality has been done before, but the quality of her voice gives it a different kind of appeal.. But I don’t like the way their songs (music) sound. It’s like it’s the same song starting at different points with a new set of lyrics. There is hardly any variation. 🙁
If you like Evanescence, a similar band “Lacuna Coil” has far better sound quality. That’s my opinion anyhow. 😀

  13. anybody that doesnt like evanscence or amy lee is sick in the head and can go take a flying leap off of a linkin park album

  14. hi, before i bought the CD, i never actually thought that evanescence was actually that good. I mean, i heard “bring me to life,” and thought that it was good, but not excellent. I then found that i had a voucher that was nearly about to expire, so i just grabbed the first CD that i thought i could give a try..Fallen..Money very well spent. Evanescence has got that ideal goth rock genre that isn’t too heavy, and Amy Lee’s voice is superior to any other, including the more famed celebs..+ she aint too bad either

  15. You all, guys, understand of music. rock! That’s the important!
Evanescence means like a fog. Evanescence will desapier as a fog. BUT I love Evanescence!!!
