Jesus Responds to Rick Perry’s “Strong” Ad

December 10, 2011

Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry released this, uh, amazing ad entitled “Strong.”

I find it remarkable that in just 30 seconds, he can tweak my sensibilities in so many ways. Thankfully, Jesus responded with his own video:

Hat tip: Jesus Needs New PR

Christians! Atheists! Whaddaya think?

As an American missionary kid who grew up in Japan, I'm a child of two cultures, while not fully belonging to either. This gives me a sightly different view of the world.

  1. I appreciate the attempt at a humorous tweak at Perry’s claims, but the speaker in the second video misses the spirit of Jesus pretty widely, don’t you think?

  2. I really found the second video very offensive. There are 66 books in the Bible. there are 3 places God’s people are commanded to take the entire Word of God. Jesus came to improve out relationship with God, not throw out the information God had already provided on how to live life successfully. The main thing we forget, is not that being gay is condemned in the Bible, which it is, but the comdemnation is for our benefit. Having sexual congress outside of a marriage relationship between a man and a woman is harmful and unproductive. That is not my opinion, that is God’s opinion.
And however it is covered over and prettied up, when you see that lifestyle in someones life, you see harmful and unproductive results. The consequence of sin is always death.

    • Cherry,
Funny, I found the first video offensive.
Here’s a strange thing: To many straights straights, being gay is all about sex. But to gays, it’s not.
My own take on gays is probably unsatisfying to everyone. I can understand, and even empathize, with what you’re saying. But does that mean gays shouldn’t serve in the military? Let’s agree that “sexual congress outside of a marriage relationship between a man a woman is harmful.” Does that mean singles having straight sex should also be barred from the military?

      • If being gay is not about sex, what is The the big deal? My brothers, who have served in Afganistan say it is common there for men to have sexual congress with goats but I do not see any one demanding that this be recognized! And non married couples who fornicate are not asking for special privileges or acknowledgment. If it is not about sex, they are just a man or a woman serving in the military and who cares what they do under the covers and in the dark!

        • Cherry, why don’t you ask someone who is gay if being gay is all about sex? Get to know someone.
I wasn’t aware that “not being fired” was considered a special privilege.
