Languaging

March 15, 2003

languagingBack on Feb. 21, Todd Hunter wrote about a book with the subtitle, “leadership as meaning-making in a community of practice.” This reminds me of my good friend Jor (the only blogger with whom I’ve had face-time), who talks about “languaging.” Todd has talked about his growing vision of leadership — I’m thinking specifically of his example of identifying what God is doing in someone else by giving it a name, like “That’s the gift of ____!” There, that’s creating a story to give something meaning.

As an American missionary kid who grew up in Japan, I'm a child of two cultures, while not fully belonging to either. This gives me a sightly different view of the world.

  1. Where did you get the picture of two 2nd order unities in reciprocal co-ontegenic structural coupling!?!? That is the essense of languaging!

  2. Ah, I did a Google image search on “languaging.” That image appeared on the first page, and I thought, “Hey, isn’t that what Jor describes with all those BigWords?” 🙂
