Mourning

August 15, 2003

Is it odd to mourn with people you don’t know, and who don’t know you?
Last night, in the middle of worship practice, we were going through the song “Holy Love”. When we got to

Many sorrows cannot quench your love
Darkness cannot overwhelm it
I will not fear, your love is here to comfort me

I thought of the Palmers. I realized that Jennifer’s funeral had happened a few hours earlier. With some difficulty, I sang that verse prophetically over Mark and little Micah, that God would be their comfort and strength and healing.

“If one part of the body suffers, every part suffers with it.”

As an American missionary kid who grew up in Japan, I'm a child of two cultures, while not fully belonging to either. This gives me a sightly different view of the world.
