Serve: Donate/upgrade an iPod?

old iPodsI really like the way the Friday group is exploring serving:

• serving an individual,
• serving our local community,
• serving our world.

A friend of mine is going nuts on the 5-hour roundtrip drive he does for his work. He desperately needs an iPod, but his resources are tight. I told him I had an old one with a poor battery but it works fine in the car with a 9V-to-Firewire adapter.

I was praying for him last night in the hot tub (my favorite place to pray), and praying about whether I should get a new iPod and give him my old one, when an idea hit me: Maybe I am not the one to meet his need. Maybe if I step in, I will be depriving someone else of the joy and blessing of serving somebody in Jesus’ name.

So: Do you have an extra iPod lying around that you could donate? Or do you have an old one you’d like to upgrade? I will hook you up with a new one at a good discount. It’s the Jesus way.

I’m on it. And you can even choose to believe that I am doing it in Jesus’ name if you want! However, I am gonna go with “adding good Karma to the pot, yo.” (which is basically the same stuff, once you boil it down).

You can have the battery in an iPod replaced for pretty reasonable these days btw. Most of the ‘batteries R us’ type places will do it.

What kind of deal can you get on new ipods? Curious…
