Singin’ in the Rain, updated

Singin’ in the Rain is one of my favorite movies. Even if you have only a passing familiarity with the movie, you will find this new Volkswagen ad amazing. You may not like what they did, but I think you’ll find it amazing nonetheless. (Link via Eric Chambers, whom I discovered through the Vineyard blog aggregator.)

As an American missionary kid who grew up in Japan, I'm a child of two cultures, while not fully belonging to either. This gives me a sightly different view of the world.

  1. It’s one of my favorites, too. We don’t own many DVDs, preferring to rent them and not see most more than once. But that one is one of the select few we have. I’ve been watching it since I was a child and love just about every scene. Yup, it’s a classic. I just mentioned it to a friend this evening, before reading your post. It might be time to watch it again (it’s been at least a year).

  2. Dude. That is *so cool*.

  3. Mmmm, After Effects. I’m not too familiar with Singing In the Rain. Are those all moves he did in the original, only sped up, or are there differences in the overall motion?

  4. Katherine: I just added the movie to my Netflix queue. It’s been too long. Did you know that (like all great movies) it has a prophetic edge?
    Chris: Mind-numbingly different.

  5. Now isn’t THAT interesting – the kids loved it, too.

  6. i’m sorry, that’s just wrong (but I did smile)
