Smells like Teen Spirit — Ungarbled at last!

April 9, 2009

I always liked Nirvana’s Smells like Teen Spirit:

But… haven’t you wondered what the heck he’s singing?

After all these years, we have help. Thank you, Paul Anka!

(Actually, the rest of the album sounds interesting.)

  1. Oh Lord….(puts face in hands)
Did he just say “love that swing!”
    Oh Lord…
Have you heard Sinatra do “Mrs. Robinson”? It’s a lot like this, but not as bad.

  2. In fairness, Joe, you should check out Anka’s version of “Black Hole Sun”. But this… “entertain us” sung with a big stage smile…

  3. Paul Anka doing Nirvana, how great is that? Thanks for enlightening us. And I thought Weird Al’s version was the height of great art and respect for Seattle grunge.

  4. Tim, it was Weird Al’s video that first made me aware that Kurt Cobain did not use “proper” singing diction. 🙂

  5. Swing that thing! Oh man is that funny.

  6. Randall, kids these days…
