They Might Be Giants

April 30, 2003

[They Might Be Giants]Went to see They Might Be Giants last night. Those guys are terrific. (You can hear a random song at their dial-a-song site.) I have a bumper sticker outside my office that says, “Play an accordion / Go to prison / That’s the law” but for these guys I make an exception.
It was also interesting to be in a venue filled with normal, drunk people. I’m with normal people all day at work, but not like that. God loves these people. I wish I could show them, somehow. …And I guess that’s why I accepted the invitation to go out with my good friend. (Besides, how can TMBG not be fun.)

As an American missionary kid who grew up in Japan, I'm a child of two cultures, while not fully belonging to either. This gives me a sightly different view of the world.

  1. I’ve always really liked TMBG. You’re right, their just plain addictive and fun! I’m not intimately familiar with their work, but I dig the song that has the line “build a little bird house in your soul”. And, for some odd reason I don’t own any of their stuff. Hmmmm, strange. Well, sounds like you had a good time. And that’s good!! 🙂

But I’m a little glowing friend
But really I’m not actually your friend
